The video in this piece was shot in St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands a few months prior to the island's devastation by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017. The piece is part of series addressing Climate Change. The title “La Gloria” is taken from the the first canto of “Paradiso" in Dante's Divine Comedy:

 

La gloria di colui che tutto move

per l’universo penetra, e risplende

in una parte più e meno altrove.

 

(The glory of the One who moves all things

permeates the universe and glows

in one part more and in another less.)

 

The flicker and flashes are generated by the cadences of the poetry.
