MICHAEL KRONDL
Prevailing Wind (proposed)
2016
The proposed installation consists of 4 video monitors mounted on four facing walls, each monitor showing a loop (about 5 minutes in duration) of a separate image: rippling water, a cloudscape, beach grass, and flames. Each moving image is accompanied by a disparate sound, respectively: voices, a pile driver, a subway train and a heart monitor. The piece comes out of Krondl’s exploration of our relationship to the natural world, as a society and as individuals. Like many of his large-scale photo installations, the video requires the viewer to move around the space; to adjust the volume of the four speakers by changing his/her physical location.
Installation size variable
Video loops of approximately 5 minutes
